They have some hard to find Florida native plants including frog fruit, which I've been trying hard to find for a while to help control erosion on my property. They are also very helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. Great nursery for Florida native plant lovers!

This place is a hidden gem. So much closer to town than you think and worth the trip. I am slowly replacing my dying lawn with natives, and the staff here is so friendly and willing to share their knowledge, which is vast. I learn something new every time I visit, and have added almost 10 native species to my teeny little urban yard. I see so many different native butterflies every day year round, and my soffits are covered in empty cocoons, mostly gulf coast fritillary.

Absolutely my favorite place to buy and learn about Florida native plants. Extremely Knowledgeable staff will assist in plant selection for your soil conditions. Worth the visit.

I cannot recommend Florida Native Plants Nursery highly enough. When I relocated to Florida in 2012, this was the first establishment I visited, and to say I was impressed would be an understatement. The owner, Laurel, generously took time out of her busy schedule to educate me—a newcomer at the time—on the ecological importance and long-term benefits of utilizing native species. Over the following years, I returned frequently, not just for the inventory, but for a "nature reset." The nursery is a stunning environment, and I spent many hours there documenting the abundant wildlife and scenery through my camera lens. After a formal consultation at my Sarasota home, Laurel helped me develop a plan to transform my landscape into a thriving sanctuary for local pollinators and birds. To complete the vision, James installed a wildlife pond modeled after the beautiful wildlife pond featured at the nursery. I was absolutely thrilled with the transformation and the quality of their work. Although I have since moved back to New Jersey to be closer to my grandchildren, the nursery remains a priority stop whenever I return to Sarasota. What a magical place! A selection of Florida native plants you won’t find anywhere else on a beautiful piece of property. Laurel was kind enough to take our homeschool group on a tour of the plants (and animals) of the nursery. She taught us about some of the unique plants and spent time answering questions. I recommend a visit here to learn about Florida plants and what should be planted for a thriving home landscape. Also you can learn so much about specific plants to attract and help care for our birds and butterflies. Laurel also has a ton of information about what to plant after the hurricane.
